
Kuching, Thursday, 15 January 2009 – SARAWAK FORESTRY today announced the temporary closure of Wind Cave Nature Reserve. Due to the continuous rainfall and overflow of the nearby river, Wind Cave was flooded, causing severe damage to the facilities and plank walk. SARAWAK FORESTRY Corporation’s Chief Pak Warden had directed the Nature Reserve to be temporarily closed to the public with immediate effect until further notice. The directive was made for safety reasons and to allow repair works and clearing up of the nature reserve. The Chief Park Warden apologised for any inconvenience that may have occurred due to temporary closure of Wind Cave Nature Reserve. SARAWAK FORESTRY will announce the re-opening of the nature reserve after the completion of rectifying works and deemed safe for the public.
