13 Apr 49 LOGS AND 2 TRACTORS SEIZED IN KAPIT
SIBU, 14 APRIL 2018 – An illegal logging operation at Ulu Sungai Amang, Kapit has been foiled by a joint enforcement team comprises of Sibu Regional Office-led SARAWAK FORESTRY Corporation (SFC), Forest Department Sarawak and Police Marine in a Compliance Task Force Operation.
This was disclosed in a SFC statement explaining that the enforcers received information from licensee when they came upon piles of logs without official markings and were believed to have been illegally extracted from the nearby forest timber licence area. Altogether, 49 logs and two tractors were found and seized by the team.
“A report has been lodged at Kapit Police Station and Forest Department will conduct further investigation as the next course of action ,” added the statement.
