KUCHING, 8 DECEMBER 2016 – Residents of Samariang can now breathe a sigh of relief with the successful culling by SARAWAK FORESTRY Corporation’s (SFC) Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) of a male sub-adult crocodile measuring 2.0 metre in length from the pond at the Samariang Muslim Cemetery this morning.
“Following public reports of recent crocodile sightings at the location, our SWAT swung into action starting Tuesday, 6 December 2016 to catch the crocodile. The team placed five baited hooks along the bank of the pond and this morning the crocodile took the bait and was hauled ashore at 9.30,” said a statement issued by SFC.
“With the successful culling of the croc, the operation has been called off. SFC wishes to thank all parties that have rendered their assistance in this operation,” the statement added.
