10  March 2019 : Acting in response to information received, a joint enforcement team comprising officers from the Sibu Regional Office of Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), UPKN, Forest Department,  and Marine Police raided a sawmill in Sibu and detained a total of 211 logs, 1 excavator and 1 shovel as well as 3 suspects last Sunday.

The subsequent raid at the riverbank yielded 200 pieces of illegal logs and arrested another 3 suspects.  The logs are waiting to be transported to other location and none of the logs bore any official markings.

Two police reports on the case had also been made at Sungai Merah Police Station and the case will be investigated by UPKN. The joint operation, named “Ops Jongkong IV” has again proven to be invaluable in the campaign against illegal logging.
